Episode 138 - Who Is This For? What Leaders Need to Know About Messaging
Wow. It has been a hot minute. Or like... 2 years...
Welcome back to the Fearless Feminine Leadership Podcast! I'm Mandy B. Anderson...
And I'm Raychel Perman. If you're new here, or it's been so long that you forgot about us, allow us to introduce ourselves again:
We are the Co-Founders of a life and leadership coaching company called,
RAYMA Team. We are also the Creators of the RAYMA Foundations Leadership Program and Curriculum.
We're on a mission to revolutionize the world of leadership development. Our
signature leadership foundations provide depth with easy-to-apply action steps that cut through the fluff for lasting change.
People always ask us what our name, RAYMA Team, means. RAYMA is more than just a combination of our names. It stands for the five foundational qualities that form the focus for our signature RAYMA Foundations™ Leadership Trainings:

•Resilience
• Authenticity
• a Yes attitude
• Motivation
• Assertiveness
Leadership like this transcends the workplace. When you embody RAYMA Foundations™, it transforms your life, your family's life, and the future for generations to come. This is how you leave a legacy that matters.
So that's who we are. You might be wondering why we took a 2 year break from our podcast...
We didn't actually mean for the break to go this long. Originally we took a break because we were recording 70+ episodes of content for the RAYMA Foundations courses and leadership programs and we just couldn't keep up with this podcast at the same time. But somehow that break turned into 2 years instead of a few months. Anyway, we're back now!
Our plan for this show is to have new episodes 1-2 times a month from now on, with some possible bonus episodes of encouragement called, Dear Leader episodes, from time to time. You won't find actual coaching tips or action steps on this show though - you'll have to hire us for that! But you will find thought-provoking conversations that will encourage and equip you for your day-to-day life
and leadership journeys.
The title of today's episode is called: Who Is This For? What Leaders Need to Know About Messaging
There's a few things we want to address when it comes to that question. First - who is this podcast show for, and second - why leaders need to remind themselves to consider, "Who is this for" when they are in a meeting, having a hard conversation, or putting messaging out into the world.
So, Raychel, let's dig in...
Okay. First things first: Who Is This Show For?
The Fearless Feminine Leadership Podcast is a show for leaders – AND also those that think they are not. That means if you are a leader with a title - or an ambitious employee who wants a title someday, an aspiring leader, team member, manager, director, or c-suite executive that wants to grow your soft skills - you belong here.
This is also a show for coaches and aspiring coaches, and anyone who wants to build a career around leadership development, training, and coaching.
And finally - this is a show for the business owners and entrepreneurs wearing all the hats and juggling all the things. Because same.
And while all of that sounds like a wide category of people, it really comes down to this: If you want to grow your soft skills then this show is for you.
We need to clarify something though..
This show is not a show that is only for women. Men - you are always invited to the table here, as long as you come with a teachable spirit and a willingness to focus on soft skills that often get overlooked in leadership trainings. If you believe skills like: empathy, authenticity, connection, or healthy communication are of lesser value than sales training, productivity, and efficiency then you probably won't enjoy this show. Just saying...
From time to time, we will have episodes that speak to coaches and aspiring coaches. Don’t skip these if you don’t fit that category! Breakthrough moments often come disguised as topics that we think don't apply to us!
Let’s get into the meat of today’s show -
Who Is This For: What Leaders Need to Know About Messaging
Talking Points to tag team:
• Who is the message of a meeting for? Don't overshare when things need to be confidential, or when people just don't need to know. Also remember this – when you over explain something in your messaging, it takes away your credibility. This can often look like rambling and even unselling after you sell your team on a mission or a client on your services. Be intentional about figuring out your messaging BEFORE the meeting! Know who you need to verbally process with or take the time to process things beforehand in a journal so you’re not wasting everyone’s time processing things in real time. This is why a Coach is so beneficial! We can help you fine tune your message, so it packs a punch every time.
• Who is the message of your social media posts for? New clients? Current clients? What is the purpose? Are you speaking to the people who follow you already? Or to grow your following? Are you talking at your audience or to them? Are you inviting them into a conversation? Are you positioning yourself as an expert by directing them to a next step or a solution that you can help them with?
• Who is the message of your company values for and HOW are you modeling them? Do you even talk about them, or are you assuming your team knows about them because they are on a sign on the wall? If the reality of your company culture does not match the company values you advertise, it might be because you never talk about them!
Final Thought to Consider as we end today:
• Is your message adding VALUE? If it's full of copy and pasted AI Chat GPT content or regurgitated positivity from various sources - That isn't adding real VALUE because it's not authentic and it's just... unoriginal.
Your audience wants to connect to YOU.
Your lived experience.
Your stories. Your lessons learned. Your style.
Not a cheap copy of something else.
We’ll see you in the next episode…
